Be clever, play brilliant, and master craps the ideal way!

Dice and dice games date all the way back to the Crusades, but current craps is approximately one hundred years old. Current craps come about from the ancient English game referred to as Hazard. Nobody knows for certain the beginnings of the game, but Hazard is said to have been made up by the Anglo, Sir William of Tyre, sometime in the twelfth century. It’s presumed that Sir William’s paladins enjoyed Hazard during a siege on the citadel Hazarth in 1125 AD. The name Hazard was gotten from the fortress’s name.

Early French colonizers imported the game Hazard to Acadia. In the 18th century, when expelled by the British, the French moved down south and settled in southern Louisiana where they at a later time became known as Cajuns. When they fled Acadia, they took their favored game, Hazard, with them. The Cajuns simplified the game and made it more mathematically fair. It is said that the Cajuns altered the name to craps, which is gotten from the name of the bad luck toss of snake-eyes in the game of Hazard, recognized as "crabs."

From Louisiana, the game extended to the Mississippi riverboats and all over the country. Most acknowledge the dice builder John H. Winn as the father of modern craps. In 1907, Winn built the current craps setup. He added the Don’t Pass line so players can wager on the dice to not win. Later, he invented the boxes for Place wagers and added the Big 6, Big 8, and Hardways.
