Be brilliant, play smart, and discover how to play craps the correct way!

Games that use dice and the dice themselves goes back to the Middle Eastern Crusades, but modern craps is approximately a century old. Current craps formed from the ancient Anglo game called Hazard. No one absolutely knows the beginnings of the game, although Hazard is said to have been made up by the Englishman, Sir William of Tyre, in the twelfth century. It is supposed that Sir William’s horsemen wagered on Hazard during a siege on the castle Hazarth in 1125 AD. The name Hazard was derived from the citadel’s name.

Early French colonists imported the game Hazard to Canada. In the 1700s, when driven away by the British, the French headed south and settled in southern Louisiana where they after a while became Cajuns. When they fled Acadia, they took their favored game, Hazard, with them. The Cajuns streamlined the game and made it fair mathematically. It is said that the Cajuns altered the title to craps, which is gotten from the name of the losing throw of two in the game of Hazard, known as "crabs."

From Louisiana, the game extended to the Mississippi barges and across the nation. A few acknowledge the dice builder John H. Winn as the founder of modern craps. In the early 1900s, Winn designed the current craps setup. He added the Do not Pass line so gamblers could wager on the dice to lose. Afterwords, he designed the boxes for Place wagers and added the Big 6, Big 8, and Hardways.
