Be brilliant, play smart, and pickup craps the ideal way!
Dice and dice games goes back to the Middle Eastern Crusades, but current craps is just about a century old. Current craps come about from the 12th Century Anglo game referred to as Hazard. Nobody absolutely knows the origin of the game, however Hazard is said to have been created by the Englishman, Sir William of Tyre, sometime in the twelfth century. It is supposed that Sir William’s knights gambled on Hazard through a blockade on the castle Hazarth in 1125 AD. The title Hazard was acquired from the fortress’s name.
Early French settlers imported the game Hazard to Canada. In the 1700s, when banished by the English, the French moved south and located safety in the south of Louisiana where they eventually became known as Cajuns. When they were driven out of Acadia, they took their favored game, Hazard, along. The Cajuns broke down the game and made it more mathematically fair. It’s said that the Cajuns changed the name to craps, which was derived from the term for the losing toss of snake-eyes in the game of Hazard, recognized as "crabs."
From Louisiana, the game extended to the Mississippi riverboats and across the country. Many consider the dice maker John H. Winn as the creator of modern craps. In the early 1900s, Winn created the modern craps layout. He added the Don’t Pass line so players could wager on the dice to not win. Later, he created the boxes for Place wagers and put in place the Big 6, Big 8, and Hardways.
