Be cunning, play brilliant, and become versed in craps the correct way!

Games that use dice and the dice themselves goes back to the Middle Eastern Crusades, but current craps is just about one hundred years old. Modern craps developed from the ancient English game referred to as Hazard. No one absolutely knows the origin of the game, although Hazard is said to have been invented by the Englishman, Sir William of Tyre, around the twelfth century. It is supposed that Sir William’s horsemen gambled on Hazard during a blockade on the fortress Hazarth in 1125 AD. The name Hazard was gotten from the fortress’s name.

Early French colonists brought the game Hazard to Canada. In the 18th century, when driven away by the English, the French moved down south and settled in the south of Louisiana where they a while later became known as Cajuns. When they fled Acadia, they brought their preferred game, Hazard, along. The Cajuns modernized the game and made it more mathematically fair. It’s said that the Cajuns adjusted the title to craps, which was gotten from the term for the losing toss of two in the game of Hazard, recognized as "crabs."

From Louisiana, the game extended to the Mississippi river boats and across the nation. A good many consider the dice builder John H. Winn as the creator of current craps. In 1907, Winn created the modern craps layout. He added the Do not Pass line so gamblers could bet on the dice to lose. Afterwords, he designed the spots for Place wagers and put in place the Big 6, Big 8, and Hardways.
