Be smart, play cunning, and learn how to play craps the ideal way!
Games that use dice and the dice themselves goes all the way back to the Crusades, but modern craps is just about 100 years old. Current craps developed from the 12th Century English game referred to as Hazard. Nobody absolutely knows the ancestry of the game, but Hazard is said to have been created by the Englishman, Sir William of Tyre, in the twelfth century. It’s supposed that Sir William’s soldiers played Hazard amid a blockade on the fortress Hazarth in 1125 AD. The name Hazard was gotten from the citadel’s name.
Early French colonists brought the game Hazard to Canada. In the 18th century, when driven away by the English, the French relocated south and discovered safety in the south of Louisiana where they at a later time became known as Cajuns. When they were driven out of Acadia, they brought their best-loved game, Hazard, with them. The Cajuns broke down the game and made it fair mathematically. It is believed that the Cajuns changed the name to craps, which was acquired from the name of the bad luck toss of two in the game of Hazard, known as "crabs."
From Louisiana, the game extended to the Mississippi riverboats and across the nation. Many think the dice maker John H. Winn as the father of modern craps. In 1907, Winn designed the modern craps layout. He created the Do not Pass line so players can bet on the dice to lose. Later, he established the boxes for Place wagers and added the Big 6, Big 8, and Hardways.
