Be smart, play smart, and pickup craps the ideal way!
Dice and dice games date back to the Middle Eastern Crusades, but current craps is approximately a century old. Current craps formed from the ancient English game called Hazard. Nobody absolutely knows the origin of the game, but Hazard is believed to have been made up by the Englishman, Sir William of Tyre, in the twelfth century. It’s theorized that Sir William’s horsemen bet on Hazard amid a siege on the citadel Hazarth in 1125 AD. The name Hazard was derived from the fortress’s name.
Early French settlers imported the game Hazard to Canada. In the 18th century, when driven away by the English, the French headed down south and settled in southern Louisiana where they eventually became known as Cajuns. When they fled Acadia, they brought their favored game, Hazard, along. The Cajuns simplified the game and made it mathematically fair. It’s believed that the Cajuns adjusted the title to craps, which was gotten from the name of the bad luck toss of two in the game of Hazard, known as "crabs."
From Louisiana, the game moved to the Mississippi barges and all over the nation. A good many acknowledge the dice builder John H. Winn as the founder of modern craps. In 1907, Winn created the current craps layout. He appended the Don’t Pass line so gamblers could bet on the dice to not win. Later, he developed the boxes for Place wagers and put in place the Big 6, Big 8, and Hardways.
